A conversation we have a lot at The Mothership with our littles is centered around acts of kindness. Rather than focusing on “rules” in the studio we point the children to ways they can help, share, use kind words, and gentle touch. Its fun because it becomes a game to see how kind we can be to each other. Its also wonderful to hear ways our kiddos bring kindness home to their adults, siblings, and neighbors. Will you join us in our Kindness Campaign?
Our biggest hope is that you will take the skills learned at The Mothership and use them at home. One mindful practice we love is teaching children (and adults) that returning to breath centers us and alters our brain chemistry and can deescalate a tense moment. This book ”Breathe Like a Bear: 30 Mindful Moments for Kids to Feel Calm and Focused Anytime, Anywhere” is an amazing resource to have on your coffee table or in your playroom. We love when art, music, and mindfulness collide. Enjoy this beautiful song by Emily Arrow featuring the art of Dallas Clayton. Take the opportunity to watch with your child, create your own version of the art work, and pause daily to stand and think of those you love.
Enjoy this Goop podcast interviewing Kim John Payne titled “Creating a Value-Centered Home”. Our greatest take-away was the quote “Bordom is the precursor to creativity.” BAM! Enjoy.
